Overwatch’s Summer Games event is making an encore appearance

Last Updated July 27th, 2021

Blizzard has announced that the Olympics-themed Summer Games event for Overwatch which debuted last summer is making a return appearance in just a few days.

The Summer Games encore event will begin tomorrow, August 8, and will last until August 29. For the event’s 2017 iteration, a new series of event-themed skins will be available for certain characters, and the skins from last year’s event will be available again as well (both the new skins and the old skins can either be found in event loot boxes or crafted with in-game credits).

The event-specific Lucioball mode will be returning as well, and this time it will feature two different arenas (the original Rio Stadium and a new arena set in Sydney, Australia), both casual and ranked variants, and a gameplay tweak which makes it so that using Lucio’s ultimate ability no longer pulls the ball towards you but instead increases both your movement speed and your knockback ability.
