EA will publish Titanfall 2

Last Updated July 29th, 2021

Titanfall is less than a month old, but it already appears that Respawn Entertainment’s new online shooter will be getting a sequel — and Electronic Arts will be taking the helm as publisher once again. The news comes courtesy of some reputable industry sources, which have spoken with GameSpot and other publications.

Even though the original Titanfall is a Microsoft-exclusive game (having been released on Xbox One and PC with an Xbox 360 version on the way), several sources have confirmed that Titanfall 2 will not carry such restrictions. These reports align with a statement Respawn founder Vince Zampella made a few months ago saying he eventually wants Respawn to make games for PlayStation 4 as well. EA would not comment on the new publishing deal other than to say: “We do not comment on rumor or speculation. Right now all our focus is on supporting all the fans worldwide enjoying Titanfall.” Respawn also declined to comment.

While this new announcement all but confirms the existence of a second Titanfall game, it’s important to remember that nothing is confirmed until it is and that if and when a new Titanfall game is released, it likely won’t be for a while since the first game is still very new and Respawn likely plans to support it for a while.
