Although Dying Light 2 was announced during E3 2018, we never got a definitive release date. Sometime after the announcement we did get a spring 2020 release window for the game, but it looks like that’s not going to happen. In a tweet and blog post, Techland CEO, Paweł Marchewka, announced the team needs more time to work on the game without offering a new release window.
“We were initially aiming for a Spring 2020 release with Dying Light 2, but unfortunately we need more development time to fulfill our vision,” Marchewka said. “We will have more details to share in the coming months, and will get back to you as soon as we have more information. We apologize for this unwelcome news. Our priority is to deliver an experience that lives up to our own high standards and to the expectations of you, our fans.”
The delay comes as a surprise as there has been quite a bit of gameplay footage shared by Techland, including the 26-minute demo from E3 2019. Check out the gameplay below:
