Arkane Studios has announced that the second content update for Dishonored 2 will arrive for both PC and consoles on January 23.
As Arkane outlined in this recent blog post, game update 2 contains two features which were previously revealed: custom difficulty sliders and a mission select menu. The former allows players to further tweak their gameplay experience with 20 individual sliders, adjusting parameters such as how many enemies can actively attack them at once in combat or how many seconds it takes for a sleep dart to take effect. Also included in the custom sliders is a new “Iron Mode” difficulty which subjects the player to both permadeath and the inability to manually save or load, forcing them to live with the consequences of whatever choices they make.
The mission select menu allows players to pick and replay any mission they have previously completed, though Arkane notes that, much like in the original Dishonored, players will only have access to the same items and abilities as they did when they played the mission for the first time, which means you sadly cannot go back to earlier missions and roll through using your late-game upgraded character.
A beta version of game update 2 will be available for the Steam PC version of Dishonored 2 on January 18 and, barring any unforeseen issues, a full-scale rollout will commence for both PC and consoles on January 23.
