After the success of its Netflix documentary, Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, VICE Studios is doubling down on the documentary side of things and will be producing a docu-series on the growth of eSports, according to Deadline.
Titled, Modern Day Gladiators, the series will look at the culture of eSports and tournaments and follow professional players as they train up to 12 hours a day to play in front of sold out coliseums. The series will also explore the issues around gaming addiction and how it impacts the gaming community. VICE Studios will also be producing a docu-series about street football.
The series will air on Insight TV, a new UHD 4K streaming platform that focuses on action sports, lifestyle, and entertainment shows. You can download the app on Smart TVs and mobile devices, along with watching their programming on their website.
“We are delighted to be working with Insight TV on two, new original productions,” Stefan Tieleman, Head of Vice Studios, Benelux, said. “Vice Studios are experts in telling compelling stories that resonate with younger audiences. These two commissions will look at hidden aspects of international, mass sports – allowing us to tap into a global youth audience by offering unique, candid and insightful content.”
